Marc Anthony’s representative revealed that the musician wasn’t on the property when it caught alight. The cause of the blaze, in the estate that the singer bought in 2014, is currently being investigated.

In the early morning of August 8, 2024, a part of Anthony’s Dominican Republic estate caught fire. Fortunately, the musician, his family, and staff members were not injured. The musician’s representative revealed that the blaze began on the left side of the property.
The affected side is the area where the estate’s four guest bungalows stand. Anthony’s representative shared that one of the bungalows survived the fire, while the others burned down.

The ex-husband and father of Jennifer Lopez’s children and his family weren’t at home when the fire started, as they were not in the country at the time. The estate is located in the La Romana neighborhood and the Casa de Campo resort.

The area is a spot loved by celebrities like Beyoncé and her husband Jay-Z, as well as Justin Bieber. Anthony’s fans saw pictures and footage on X, that showed the damage caused by the fire. A news producer shared a photo showing a building that had burned down.
A burnt roof and wooden beams were visible in the image, where it seemed like two trees had also burned down. A journalist from a local news program also uploaded a video of the blaze underway, with the fire department on-site fighting to control it.

Big gusts of smoke billowed up as the blaze raged on. The building ablaze at the time appeared to be the same one shared by the news producer. Another X page shared the same video, a photo of smoke billowing up, and a picture of Anthony covering his eyes as if in tears.
The account revealed that the singer’s Dominican Republic home is known as “El Oasis.” It stated that the main house boasted accommodations for up to 24 people, had luxury American pine finishes, and had two swimming pools.
One of the property’s swimming pools resembles an artificial beach. Opposite one of the swimming pools is a “two-level palapa” or a thatched-roof dwelling usually open on the sides. The property also has various pavilions, cabanas, and an entertainment set with a screen and speakers.

The compound is situated away from the coastline, providing the singer, his family, and visitors with privacy. Large amounts of sand got brought in to cover the ground, giving Anthony the feeling of being a few feet away from the waterfront.
The surrounding areas of the house have paths with well-kept gardens and other outdoor amenities. On YouTube, one channel shared more footage of the blaze that engulfed Anthony’s property.

The channel also had aerial footage, with one image showing the pool that was made to look like a beach. The view from above also showed how the fire affected one side of the property. The blaze got handled by Casa de Campo’s fire department.
Security in the area is extremely tight due to the number of celebrities who live there. The news channel also spoke to Anthony’s publicist, Blanca Lassalle, who confirmed that her client and his family were safe.

Lopez’s ex bought the luxury villa in 2014, and that same year, he married his now ex-wife, Venezuelan model Shannon De Lima, there. Several celebrities attended the couple’s wedding, with Anthony recalling, “Our housewarming party was literally our wedding week.”

Before buying the estate, it only had the house and the swimming pool immediately behind it. The musician revealed that it was “surrounded by wild vegetation,” and he began imagining it having more. Anthony said, “The second we moved in, I started drawing my ideas on napkins and buying up the adjacent lots. I just had a vision for it.”
He enlisted the help of Dino Barré, a local architect from DM Dominicana, who also happens to be the original house’s designer. The original home was modeled after the once rapidly growing sugar mills in the area.

Some of the features Anthony wanted included were a sports bar pavilion, an outdoor movie theater, and palapas that incorporated indigenous materials. These materials included coral stone and eucalyptus wood. The bungalows were designed to match those seen at the resorts in Bora-Bora and the Maldives.
